MJHS Music Program
Martinez Junior High School boasts a dynamic and enriching music program that nurtures students' musical talents and fosters a deep appreciation for performance. Under the expert direction of Mrs. Samantha Flanzbaum, the program currently serves 30% of the student population at Martinez Junior High School, offering a range of ensembles tailored to different skill levels and musical interests.
The program includes:
Beginning Band – A welcoming space for students new to instrumental music, focusing on fundamental techniques and ensemble playing.
Beginning Orchestra – Introduces students to orchestral instruments, helping them develop foundational skills in string performance.
Advanced Orchestra – A more refined ensemble for students with prior experience, emphasizing technique, musicality, and collaboration.
Concert Band – A high-level ensemble that performs at school and community events, showcasing students' dedication and growth.
Wind Ensemble - The audition-only wind ensemble is the most-advance group. Wind ensemble is selective and students must audition to earn their spot in this class.
The high-quality music program at MJHS cannot thrive solely on the limited funding provided by the Martinez Unified School District. It is made possible through generous donations to the Bullpup Music Booster fund.
